Our Approach
01 Planning
In our exciting production process we start with planning. We draw our inspiration from travel, art, magazines and, of course, the incomparable beauty of Portugal. This is where the ideas for our next Motel a Miio Favorites are born, while technical drawings and color palettes come to life. Shapes are born, and we ask ourselves: what trends will excite people?
Our designers create 3D models in close collaboration with our partners. This way we ensure that we always plan with the production in mind.
02 Prototype
In the prototype phase our ideas become reality. It starts with inspiring on-site meetings where we discuss examples and moods.
Creating samples is an exciting process: Motel a Miio creates the design and our talented producers implement it. Collaboration with our ceramic masters in Portugal is crucial. We produce the first sample, from the blank to the finished coloring. Here we test whether everything is perfect - from color durability to resistance to sun and weather. Quality and durability are our top priority so that our treasures bring joy every day.
03 Manufacturing Test
If the prototype convinces us, it goes into production control. Here, every single piece is carefully examined and tested according to our strict quality standards.
Let's make it clear when choosing the right glaze: Our glazes are not only selected based on aesthetic considerations, but above all the safety of the buyer is our priority. We ensure that all of our glazes are free of harmful substances, metals such as cadmium and lead and are food-safe. This not only guarantees the safety of our products, but also their environmental compatibility. In order to meet all of these standards, our products are thoroughly tested in the laboratory and are subject to the requirements of the European Food Safety Departments.
04 Final Quality Control
In the final phase, our products are integrated into everyday life by our own team and internal experts over a longer period of time. This allows us to test not only the aesthetic beauty but also the practical longevity of our ceramics under real conditions.
We firmly believe that sustainable quality is reflected in everyday use. Our ceramics are tested for scratch resistance, impact resistance and temperature resistance to ensure they can withstand the rigors of everyday life.

5 Steps to the finished product
Our quality process has passed? Then these five production steps follow - until your Motel a Miio favorite is in your home.
1. Production of Molds
We carefully craft molds to create the foundation for each Motel a Miio masterpiece.
2. Dust-free Cleaning
Thorough cleaning ensures our ceramics are in perfect condition before moving on to the next step.
3. Firing
The first firing phase puts our pieces on the path to their final shape and durability.
4. Glaze
Each piece is then given its unique glaze, which not only protects it but also gives it its characterful appearance.
5. Burning
In the second firing phase, our treasures are fired at high temperatures to ensure their quality and longevity.
